"Since its foundation in 1713, the Real Academia Española has set main objective of caring for language. With intention reaching this goal, addition to preparation works, Dictionary, Spelling and Grammar, institution also convened various competitions during 18th century promote proper use Poetry Eloquence providing some ideas related mottos contests. The first competition (1778) had as motto La destrucción de las naves Cortés (Cortés’s ships destruction), one that allowed participants recall achievements Spanish expeditionary spread cliches used refer native Americans.
